Bicycle trips

From Certosa Island you can easily and quickly reach the start of delightful bicycle trips. You can hire a bicycle to discover evocative corners of the lagoon and reach beaches for an afternoon by the sea.
The hotel offers a number of itineraries you can follow either on your own with maps and detailed information, or accompanied by an expert guide.

Itineraries to Lido di Venezia.
1 ) From Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta to San Nicolò
From Piazzale Santa Maria Elisabetta, follow the Riviera San Nicolò northwards along the Lagoon to Via Cipro, site of Europe’s oldest Jewish cemetery. Following Via Cipro then turn left and continue down Via Marco Paolo where you will find Lido Hospital.

Turn left again and continue until you come to a wooden gate which indicates the start of the San Nicolò protected area. Follow the dirt track which takes you to the north end of Lido where the island ends, looking out over the inlet separating Lido from Cavallino.

Continue for a further two kilometres along the jetty to the San Nicolò lighthouse offering a spectacular view of the sea and the beaches of Lido.

2) From Santa Maria Elisabetta to Alberoni
The starting point is once again the ACVT landing stage at Santa Maria Elisabetta.

Follow the Gran Viale until you are in sight of the sea, then turn right along Lungomare Marconi. On the right along the road you can admire the Grand Hotel Des Bains, made famous by Thomas Mann’s “Death in Venice”. After about 1 km, you come to Piazzale del Casinò with the famous Hotel Excelsior and the Palazzo del Cinema, venue for the well-known annual Venice Film Festival.
At the end of the Lungomare Marconi, where the road bends right, leave the tarmac road going straight ahead and you come to a wood ramp leading to the Murazzi, an artificial barrier built to protect Lido from the sea. Continue down the narrow path with views of Alberoni beach at the far end of the island. Proceed for a further 5-6 km as far as the jetty marking the south end of Lido.

Itineraries at Punta Sabbioni and Cavallino

3 ) From Punta Sabbioni to Lio Piccolo
This evocative itinerary extends from Punta Sabbioni to the vast horizons of the Lagoon, through the old villages of the Cavallino coast.
After the Pordelio Canal, you come to the centre of the village of Treporti, with the church with two characteristic bell towers. Continue along the banks of the Valle Zanella as far as Saccagnana, with the historic rural court of Pra with its elegant rustic villa and ancient church built by the first inhabitants of the island.
The itinerary ends at Lio Piccolo in a lagoon landscape with characteristic fish farms.
Route: Punta Sabbioni - Treporti - Saccagnana - Le Mesole - Lio Piccolo and return
Length: 12 km outward trip, 9.5 return trip
Time: 2h outward trip, 1h 40' return trip
Type of route: the itinerary takes place exclusively on tarmac roads
Local resources: bars, restaurants and shops at Punta Sabbioni, Treporti and Saccagnana; none between Saccagnana - Le Mesole - Lio Piccolo
Recommended period: from April to October

4) From Punta Sabbioni to the Sile river
The route passes through the centre of the village of Cavallino, then enters the typical lagoon landscape of the Valli Falconeria (so-called because migrating falcons were captured there in the Middle Ages) and Musestre, populated with the typical birdlife of terns, yellow-legged gulls, mallards and marsh harriers.

Route: Cavallino - Via Pordelio - Valle Musestre - Via Pordelio - Il Vallone - Via Fausta - Via Baracca - Ponte Cavallino - Canale Casson - Cavallino
Length: about 13 km
Time: about 2h (excluding stops)
